The Robot Kid
My cousin died unexpectedly a couple of years ago. Seeing the devastation that this occurrence created deeply affected me. I was dealing with my own grief, but I was also shockingly aware of how my cousin’s death affected his mother, sister, and daughter. It hurt that they all seemed so isolated in their grief. As if, in trying to protect one another from the pain they were feeling, they couldn’t see it in each other.
I wanted to create something that a person could connect to. I’ve always felt that literature and art have a unique ability to touch an innumerable amount of people, and through a story I could show my empathy and my support to anyone who might need it. I wanted to create something that a person, who is feeling lost and alone, could relate to and have comfort in knowing that they’re not the only ones feeling this way.
